Don't ask me why I chose the titles for today, I honestly don't know.
Since the day is only half spent, I may append to this post by the end of it, not really sure yet. Gosh, I'm uncertain about a lot of things aren't I?
Last night I thought that GW and I had a good time talking while driving to the Van's house, I do enjoy his company, as it is often nice to have another person along on a drive. Otherwise I might go crazy talking to myself..... I'll get more to the discussion later.
This morning I found it was cooler than I had anticipated, 45 degrees in the camper, which is not unusual for this time of year but unusual considering the temperature it has been the last week or two!
I discovered the night before that my mother had placed not just one, not just two, but THREE quilts on my bed, a COMFORTER, AND a blanket on the side "just in case I got cold." Um... thanks, would you prefer your Shadow browned, or lightly toasted?
I had opportunity to try out my new gloves that I received for Christmas and I really liked them. Rather hard to type in I must admit, but still very nice! :) They are meant for driving of course and with my "Fast cap" on I must have looked fairly snazzy or "hunkie dorie" as I drove to classes this morning.
Speaking of classes, I was able to get to my class at 8:30 and found out that they professor I had for the Engineering Design course, was the same one who had mistaken me for the teacher last semester, in my Economics course! I liked him so I was pleased to say the least. He did make it through 50 slides of his presentation in the class time we had, I was very impressed, I didn't think he'd be able to make it through that much material! I'm looking forward to the challenge of this class during the next semester, it's supposed to be difficult to some extent. One funny thing that occurred was that he was explaining to us all that there were review questions at the end of the lecture notes that we could look at. He asked if we wanted to know the answers to them, that they were all "yes."
Things like, "Did you understand the chapter?"
Yes.
"Do you understand what oblique means?"
Yes.
"Do you know what ethical designing means?"
Yes.
Etc., he went through multiple examples, the answer to each being "yes."
After he had finished explaining he asked "Okay, do you understand how the questions work?"
"Yes." I piped up. I couldn't resist! I was the only one though, he and one or two others chuckled but I think it was lost on most of the class for some reason. :)
Then I headed on over to my Calculus class. The teacher came in and I'm not sure but I'm fairly positive he's from Italy or somewhere around there. He was a small, nervous fellow and when he walked back and forth in front of the room he looked like a strutting rooster with his neck jumping forward at each step. He appeared to be rather nervous and I have to wonder if he is new here. First he started writing on the board and the pen didn't show up very well on the whiteboard so he tossed it in the trashcan and tried the other there, which was even weaker than the first. So he dug out the first pen and wrote with it a few more lines until it went out, then, apologetically went to go get another pen from somewhere else, his face showed his embarrassment and I felt badly, almost like I did when yesterday, when young Hannasus piped up in church with the "shepherd shears the sheep" and everyone was laughing, not at her but because her father had given her the answer. I was directly in front of them and heard. She didn't know though and I could almost feel the tears welling up behind me and then hearing the stifled sobs of embarrassment. No one was laughing at her, as her father tried to explain gently but to a child who says something aloud and then hears laughter following what she thought was a good answer... well I can imagine how one might feel ridicule even though none was intended.
Anyways, back to the Calculus Class. The professor went out and came back with the pens and started into his talk, which was punctuated by his strutting back and forth, neck darting forward every step, he gave a decent introduction though and I hope he'll do well the rest of the semester (I really hope so for my sake too!).
Directly after that would have been my Physics lab but it was going to meet for the first two weeks apparently, so I went to a Chemistry class that I knew was going to be coming out in about an hour and I'd try to sell my old book then. See, I had made a list of times when classes would be starting, classes that I had enrolled in last semester. That way I'd be able to go to them and try to sell my book to one of the students because many don't even get their books until after the first week is over, whereas I like to to get mine early!
Too many people were coming out and I'm not very attention demanding. I had prayed that the right person would be brought to me and after a while, the teacher to come out and I spoke to him. He offered to announce it in class on Wednesday so he took my poster, I thought it was very nice of him to do that! I guess he was the right person eh?
After that I still had some time left (the Physics lab would have taken up 2 hours) so I went to where my old Computer Science teacher was and as "luck" would have it, he happened to be there in his office and I had previously contacted him and asked if I could say something before or after class about it and he said that would be fine, well, it turns out it conflicted with my own class schedule so I asked if he would be willing to mention it in the class, he said he'd be very willing to do that (I guess it pays to have your teachers know your name!) and he would announce it in the first class meeting on Tuesday, there was my e-mail there as well as a New Price, Used Price, and then My price for the book so he said he'd take care of it for me. That took a load off my mind!
Now I had my own Computer Science 2 course. I really liked the instructor and he even mentioned that he tries to live as his Lord Jesus Christ would have him to and he hopes it shows over the semester (I'd never had an instructor say that before). I may wish to talk to him later. I know Mr. Y had mentioned he was one of his own favourite instructors.
Then I scurried on over to the building where I knew my Economics teacher would be having a class in about 10 minutes. She said it would be fine if I mentioned I had the books (book and study guide) for sale, but would it be all right if I waited about 25 minutes until she had explained the syllabus. I said sure and was standing outside the door. Another student came by, apparently mistook me for standing outside waiting for the previous class to end. Anyway, I started up a conversation, mentioned why I was there and then (slyly) asked if he had bought books yet, he said no, so I explained to him the prices.
New was $100 for the book $30 for the study guide.
Used was $80 for the book, $22 for the study guide.
My price was $70 for both. He said it sounded good and he'd take me up, could we meet tomorrow at the Student Union and he'd bring the money? Naturally that was fine with me so we set up a time and he went in to the class. Hopefully he'll show but he seemed like the sort that would. His name was Jason. So Jason, if you happen to be browsing blogs tonight and see this: don't let me down ;)
It's a good deal for me too though, because I would have had to turn them in at the bookstore for $32 for the both of them! That's robbery if you ask me. If I sell these two books then I think I would have made more money by doing that then turning in ALL of my old books to the bookstore, so it makes it rewarding. The extra "go-get-em" attitude pays off. I think it's the principle of the thing to. I'd rather keep my books than know I got robbed by the bookstore and just accept it ;) My mom says it's better than nothing but I think I'd rather take the nothing in this case. Like I said, it's the principle of the thing!
And after that I went to the Chemistry lab, sat through about an hour and a half of the prerequisite video and safety instruction and then gave my little speech on how my book I was selling was 20% less than you could buy it even used, and it was in great shape!
No one seemed interested, at least no one talked to me. I find that rather odd though. If I was in their shoes I'd jump at the chance and even if I HAD already bought my books, I could buy this one (from me) and then return the book I'd bought for a full refund and saved $15 on a used book and $35 if I had bought the book new! Why wouldn't anyone do that? Too much effort? Their parents paid for the book so they don't care? The state paid for their books so they don't care? I dunno, but it don't make sense to me Jim. No it don't.
Then I came back to the camper, had a bite to eat and was invited to go over in a couple of hours for dinner at the home of the people who run the RV park. It was a very good meal but they swear a lot (every other word that comes out of their house it seems) and the house really reeked of smoke. He and his wife smoke, their daughter (who has moved in with them with her young son) smokes, they invited another college student in for the evening and he smoked. By the time I got out I was nearly choking and even now I can still feel the stench clinging heavily to my clothes and skin. Maybe I'll take a shower directly before bed.....
Ah yes, I had one more thing to talk about that I remember and that is in relation to The Puritan Hope and my talk with GW last night but I'll have to save that for some other time.

Sounds like quite a busy day of classes. Glad your professors look like they will be good teachers for this semester. That one who acknowledged Christ's rule is surprising--I wish one of the professors here would be like that!
Shadow,
All of that running around made me feel quite breathless. But then with this cough I feel somewhat breathless most of the time anyway! Ha Ha!
Seriously, I hope you find people to buy each one of your books.
With all of those quilts and blankets, one wouldn't have to worry about cowlicks - everything would be quite flat!
I think Daisy and Dark Warrior would know what to do with all of those blankets and qults - make tents!
Sorry if my comments seem half baked. Dark Warrior is preparing for the County spelling bee by studying the words in the "Paideia" spelling bee book for the Scripps Natinoal Spelling Bee. The words for today include some really funny words: hackamore, cooncan, mohair, pennyroyal, walleyed, embergoose, etc. It was hard to keep a straight face during the study session this afternoon.
