Mondie Mahrnin'
Okay, a brief write-up of yesterday. In the morning we had VBS. I helped with the younger kids in the morning by playing Duck-Duck-Goose with them while we waited for everything to be set up. JD was going around as "Mr Roc" with Stephen as his sidekick (Pebble as Bruce said). We were wearing our bandanas on our heads or necks to distinguish us and to let others know that we were the leaders.
We actually had seven kids from the community so that was an encouragement. They were a well-behaved lot in general, though a couple of them needed a little stronger leading I think. There was this one big one named James that I'm going to have to keep my eye on. He should be obeying and falling in line and just standing there without multiple requests, or he staggers slowly up the stairs, goofily falling down when we need to go up to the next spot. I could easily lift him and carry him but that would probably only encourage him. What else you would do I don't know, it must be hard for some teachers without any form of discipline.
I was Saul when it came to story time, so while they were stoning Stephen (acted out by Brad) I was holding the coats and looking like I was mean. Apparently the little girls (all the children were called upon to be Pharisees) really got into their part and Mary was yelling up at Stephen "Do you really believe in Jesus?!" and shaking her finger at him. I thought Clay did an excellent job with the story time. Beth was great with the singing, Sam led the games very well and Bruce was really good with all the children. It's a very good and talented group and I'm glad to be a part of it.
Afterwards, we went to the church office for a time to listen to Bruce talking about going door to door. We listened to David's testimony, which was very good and beneficial. The we went out for about 45 minutes or so. Stephen and I were paired up and had a few encouraging people. This one lady sounded interested (she said that she used to go to the church her brother pastored but hadn't been anywhere in a while) and I invited her to VBS and gave her all of our materials we had. There were a few encouragements but most of the time people weren't interested or didn't care. We had a couple of people tell us they knew about Jesus but didn't really know who he was, believed in a heaven and a hell but didn't want to know anything more. They just hoped they would go to heaven. We prayed for those houses and desired that perhaps they would seek for more information.
Then we went to the C house for supper with Brad. I enjoyed getting to know Brad a little better. He seems like a pretty nice guy in many ways. We left at about 9:50 and came home and went to bed at 11:00. And that was pretty much it. This morning I worked on writing out the rest of my lesson that I'm doing for Wednesday (hopefully I'll be able to make it interesting and understandable to the kids) and on my testimony, among other things.

It has been great to see some kids finally coming from the community. I only hope this marks the start of heightened involvement.
Hope your skit goes well tomorrow! :o)
