Further Updates
I wanted to take a little time to explain what has been going on. For the next two weeks (starting with this last Saturday) I will be working with a mission team in the town of Stillwater (where I am attending college), doing vacation Bible school and a little door-to-door work.
The trip up to Stillwater on Saturday was fairly uneventful, Charlie and I goofed off a bit but he was a little too hot to sit on my arm much longer so for the remainder of the trip he just sat and stared out the window on the passenger side. I stayed at the Y house for the night, since I didn't know where the rest of the team would be staying. I've been made an official member of the team (for the next two weeks) but didn't meet them until Sunday. J Nathan (who was in town for the weekend and picked up a couple of the members) told me that they were expecting me to arrive at the S house with two of the other team members, J Nathan walked out during the night to go get something from the car and locked himself out accidentally. So he started knocking on the door and apparently the other team members just thought "Oh, that's L- knocking, J Nathan will get it." So he kept knocking and finally someone got up and found J Nathan standing out there!
Church was very good and I was glad to be back. I was setting things up and had just come out with a big armload of boxes and Mary came around the corner and said "Hey! L- is here!" It was very, very nice to see everyone again. M- and E- had just come back from their mission trip to Scotland, there were some people visiting and so, despite being summer, it was a much larger group than normal! One of the visitors I saw was a man named Matt that I went up to and introduced myself, it turns out that he had been there the past October and he remembered that I was from Mariposa County in California because he had been in Fresno for a while. How embarassing. Here he is remembering where I'm from and I didn't even remember seeing him before. I did realize afterward that I recognized his wife and then my memory seemed to be coming back.
Speaking of memory (and going off on a tangent) I'm only to question 48 in the Larger Catechism at this time and I really need to practice the former 47 because I feel like I've got a lot of great, emphatic phrases that are loosely glued together in my head and I'll end up stringing them together with something like
"The work of Creation is that wherein God did, in the beginning, for his glory, to the praise of his glorious grace, to be manifested in due time, out of his mere love and mercy, for himself, by his sovereign power, to the praise the glory of his justice, by an eternal and immutable decree, according to his infallible foreknowledge, make of nothing the world and all things therein."
Which of course is absolutely ridiculous when I string it together that way and completely out of context. I just fear when I get to the commandments that I'll mix and mash certain things and get it all wrong.
So back to the chronology of things.... last night was very good too, the discussion was upon the heroes of faith as spoken of in Hebrews 11. The "inside joke" for the night was that apparently, Austin was house-sitting for the W- family and left confetti on the ceiling fan blades, put face cut-outs of Napolean Dynamite over all Mr W's pictures, and filled about 100 mugs with water and put it on the floor of B's bedroom.... in addition to putting cutout "stars" in Mr W's Bible, in the "heroes" section. Obviously a play on the "super-stars" of the Bible :) I can just picture the W's coming home from Germany at 1:00 in the morning and discovering all the pranks. Oh, and Sam discovered a yellow gummy bear trapped mournfully inside the glass clock on the piano.
I'm going to have to carry on about Monday (today) tomorrow, D.V. And then I'll most likely be a day behind from then on *sigh* *grin* *chuckle* *snore*
Um.... Daisy imitaion?

I'm glad you could come and be part of the team for these two weeks. I heard a little bit about Austin's pranks. They sounded pretty funny to me. Missy read about them on her e-mail while we were still in Scotland, and she went into fits of high-pitched laughter. :o)
