Uneventful
I have a feeling that title is going to be used a lot over the course of my musings. Just like the title says, today was very uneventful (so far). I finished up my homework for Calculus, talked with my good friend back in California for a little while on Google Talk, and also worked on the sample test for the next Chemistry exam. I really enjoy what I am grasping of Chemistry, but so much is going by too quickly for me to really understand it perfectly. This is supposed to be the only Chemistry course I'll ever need and I assume that being an Electrical Engineer, I won't have too much to do with it anyway, unless I'm trying to figure out some new type of liquid or gas that will conduct electricity. I suppose it could be helpful in designing a new screen for electronic devices. I don't plan on being in that department though. I want to get down into the wires and chips.
So let me see, I practiced some problems from Chemistry and watched Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius (it was on sale at Wal-mart). The ending was very good and I think I enjoyed the movie because of that, but the first part had a lot of foul language that was extremely unnecessary in my opinion. And for that reason I wouldn't feel right to recommend it at all. You'd be better off watching The Magnificent Seven or something (another on-sale DVD I found at Wal-mart).
I'd like to introduce my freeware of the week now. You see, there are many free programs out there that people have created for themselves, or as some sort of a project, or simply to do something useful with their talents. I love freeware and am always on the lookout for new programs. So here's what I've got to share this week:
Abiword,
A free program that is very much like Microsoft Word in functionality, it loads quickly, is a very small download and it's free! I would highly recommend it if you don't have Word or just want to get away from it like me :) Something related to this is a site called OpenOffice.org, they have developed an entire Office Suite that is available for free, this includes programs that both read and create Word files, Excel files, and Powerpoint files. If you don't want to shell out the $200 for Microsoft Office, this is definitely the way to go. It does load a bit slower and you need a fair amount of RAM but it is free and works well.
Okay, and that's all I've got on the menu for today, I think I'll clean up the old pad a little bit, namely: do the dishes. Hmm.... dishes? Chemistry? Dishes? Chemistry? Dishes.
